"Someday I Won't Hear
the Cries of the Poor"
by Judy Joy Jones

someday I wont hear
homeless people
pushing grocery carts
down the streets
and rummanging thru
garbage cans

someday I wont hear
their shrieks and moans
in the darkest nights
drivin me insane
soakin in my every pore

yes someday ill be free
when every man woman and child
has a home
and no one dies hungry sick and alone
on cold concrete streets

an that day
is comin very soon

Sentiments of social--and for many of us--personal values made real each day. It's difficult to imagine the homeless numbers shrinking as the nation conitnually builds its political prowess on the backs hatred, chaos and desperation. It would, indeed, be a rewarding day to see the numbers dwindle, but I'm afraid that day will struggle and remain a dream until the conscience of he country awakens to caring less about themselves and more about fellow beings. Well written. Thank you.

Your wish and mine as well. But it seems those in power in Washington are more interested in greed and who is the richest, to even notice that there are people on the street and there will be more if they cut essential service money

We really need to create more Habitat for Humanity and less money for war machinery that puts people into despair, driven from their homes.

Soon will not be soon enough,

Ron
