Poem Artwork

The Wettest June I heard the man say
Records were breaking day after day
My umbrella is useless
It often goes missing
And that's when I need it
Just when it is ...raining

Out with the flags on the soft grassy green
Did I say Green? Yes, you know what I mean
Rain gets in your eyes and runs down your specks
And ears are designed for draining your necks

Flags were so many and there was some bunting
Set in the hills where hunters go hunting
Each flag took its place, in a stand on the grass
So Canada was as big or as small as Honduras

Puddles were muddy, cars wheels did slide
And homes are flooded around high tide.
Rochester and Yorkshire got it real bad
It was much worse there, than we ever had

We hate it, it soaks us, it's really a pain
This thing we detest, this thing we call rain
But wait for a moment, just a moment to think
This stuff we happily send down the sink

It's more than just rain, wetting the land
Without it life dies, dried up in the sand
Each drop has a purpose
It came from God's hand.

"Each drop has a purpose". I couldn't agree more.

I love the rain. I think God sends it 'cause he secretly loves me best.--Charlie
