Poem Artwork

Old bows to young recalling his puppyhood

Young bows to old respecting authority

Together they communicate silently

Wishing to possess what each other has not

Cousins in nature, living far apart

They meet irregularly but recognise

The breed of the Border Collie

Faithful, obedient and sometimes friendly

Aloof, alert, awaiting instructions

Servant and companion roles perfected

Awaiting my instruction or call to dinner

A satisfaction for man and his dog.
