Thank you England and Austraila for the best Ashes series ever. Some superb cricket was played by both sides but in the end the best team won YEEEEEEAAAAHHHHH! LOL

Long hot summer days
old rivals battle
over an urn of ash
returned to their rightful home
18 years of lost pride
restored.
The crack of leather on willow
doesn't always sound hollow
unless your Austrailian
of course. :)

Excellent Ode here ol Chap, marvellous piece of play, the seagulls must of been flying right side up for a change hehe.
I'm not sure but I think all the years we had claim to the Ashes, though they were incarcerated in an English Museum!! and never left Pommy soil ahem... our SAS actually took on an elite operation, removed them outa the urn and neatly placed some charred chops off the Barbi. But you would have to Check with the ICC about that :P
Sums cricket up, don't it... fighting to the deadly-dull death over an eggcup of charred wood. Boys will be boys, I guess. If they ended up in my house, I'd take the top off and use them to absorb the spilled Chateauneuf du Pape off the white tablecloth! Well, at least they'd have a use. What I know about cricket they could write a book about (and have, many times over), but congratulations for your victory!
I don't understand cricket, but your enthusiasm for the sport clearly shows. That's how Americans feel about baseball and football (not the soccer kind). :) Well written celebratory write! Congratulations!

:) I just read my Andy's poem about the same thing and he started to give me a history of cricket:) I am happy for you guys, I love sports- only all I ever hear is cricket and Arsenal, I wish he'd give me a history of Rugby, that I LOVE:)
