OH MY GOODNESS, MARYGRACE...WEREN'T THE 'OLD DAYS' GREAT?! WE DID IT SO DIFFERENT... IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD OUR PARENTS DIDN'T HAVE TO ACCOMPANY US. Childhood memories, like yours, of Halloween, where the best. Kids could go out and gather lots of sugary loot, more than they would get all year long, without real fear of any harm.

Ah yes, I remember it well. Okay, not that well, but your poem brings it back. One year my brothers and I went trick-or-treating twice because my parents went out of town and left us with a family in a neighborhood that celebrated Halloween on the day before. Those were the days.

So much fun in the way you have written about Halloween. This reminds me of the first Halloween I spent in Canada. I didn't even know it was Halloween and was wondering why were there so many kids knocking at my door. It was hilarious because I opened the door but had nothing to give to them. Their little faces turned so disappointed. Next thing I did was pretend that I was not home. I had to turn the lights off to pretend.

The following year I bought tons of candy to prepare for their arrivals, but I ate half of the candy even before the children arrived. LOL!!! :D
