Nobel Laureated García Márquez suggested to the wife of is Literary friend Vargas Llosa, that she should divorce her husband because of his philandering, García Márques got a punch in the nose for his troubles.
After thirty-one years of silence between them, it seems that the friends could be together again.
Vargas Llosa wife didn't divorced him.
Even literary giants are able to make a boo-boo.

With ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE
Gabriel García Márquez, Columbian author,
went from being a "hombre literario" to a Giant,
after been shaped to steel in LEAF STORM.

Then, with one CONVERSATION IN THE CATHEDRAL,
Mario Vargas Llosa, he , a Peruvian and author,
went from being TTHE STORYTELLER in site
to report about THE FEAST OF THE GOAT.

In AN EVIL HOUR, García Márquez, the poet,
carved with letters all the twisted pains of the soul,
while inside THE GREEN HOUSE, Vargas Llosa,
the DEATH IN THE ANDES, for us he went and told.

In the AUTUMN OF THE PATRIARCH, García Marquez
wondered perhaps of the years that make us old,
while THE PERPETUAL ORGY going in the life
of Vargas Llosa, friendship and home nearly cost.

When matter is flesh or envy, adulation or wine,
no infallible men had ever hold a quill over a scroll,
because, like gold, humility cannot be weighted,
and without it, no one can write the wises words.

I've always kept my mouth shut in such matters. Usually, the spouse 'knows' and if they choose not to do anything about it, it's because they 'choose not to do anything about it'. Tough lesson for a poet to learn, eh?

A bibliographic store-poem poetized to be recited by ERATO in the platinum-room of eternity. "When Giants Collide" has paid its poetic dues to the treasure of Helicon.

In respect and admiration,

A major tribute to two titanic talents. It's good to know that both of these literary lions stayed around long enough to set their past anger aside and celebrate each others' considerable accomplishments.

Have a great National Poetry Month.
