I Am!

I prayed to God for comfort for I felt alone and empty.

I prayed for words from Heaven, Words that would serve to reassure me.

I prayed to feel the touch of his hand gently resting on my shoulder

I prayed God would give me eternal life but, alas I just grew older.

I prayed to God and Prayed to God for some signal from above

I only ask for reassurance that I could know his love.

His silence cut through me like a knife and seemed to drive my soul asunder.

I tried to grasp his hand in mine to comfort me through the lightning and the thunder.

Then one fine day I realized why God had kept so still.

He was allowing me to search for him and learn to understand his will.

For he does not promise earthly riches, comforts or even peace on earth

What he offers we must find or we will never know its worth.

I ask of God and ask of God but I never really knew his ways

One day, I asked no more of God, but promised to live for him through all my days.

I would love the Lord with all my heart and love my neighbor and my friends

I found that his love is eternal love which means it never ends.
