Building Blocks

The child sat upon the living room floor placing building blocks way up high.

As he looked down at the bottom he let out a long and lonely sigh.

All the other blocks were red but this one block was black.

He said to himself, “How can I let that block there in my red stack?

I will remove the block and replace it with a block that’s red.

So he carefully pulled out that one black block and cried out when he did

Because as soon as he pulled the block away the others blocks tumbled down

And where he once had a tower there was now blocks strewn around.

The child never gave a thought of what might happen when the block was gone

He never thought that all the blocks depended upon this black one.

He tried once more to build his tower with red blocks and that was all

But the block he got to replace the black one was too large and it made the tower fall.

Sometimes just as that little child, our lives are not always good.

But where we stand today depends upon the path were we have stood.

If we change those painful, unhappy times that we all have had

We may find only that our future will turn out twice as bad.

So, my friend if you see something bad about the way you lived yesterday

Simply pray to God through Jesus Christ and forgiveness will come your way.

Learn from yesterday’s mistakes and press on for tomorrow

To change the past may do nothing more than bring to you more sorrow.
