Yesterday I was just a child at play.

I lived in the joys of fantasy day after day.

But yesterday was limited to a very short childhood.

Sometimes I wish I would go back if only I could.

However it is now today, looking forward to tomorrow

Will it bring joy or will it spread much sorrow.

Who can say what tomorrow will bring

So I thank God for yesterday and today I will sing

Praises to he who gives life sublime.

He has control over all things, even old father time.

Yesterday has given me wonderful memories so sweet

I will treasure them and as for today I will meet

Every challenge with the best that I can give

I will let tomorrow come tomorrow for it is today that I live.

I could not change yesterday so I will not dwell on things that might have been.

I will live today as if life were beginning again.

Tomorrow will come and with it I know

That today will have become another yesterday, it will soon leave to go

And thus become one more memory for me

Tomorrow will be today and then I will see

What tomorrow holds in store but right I won’t dwell

On its hopes or its fears be it Heaven or Hell!

God will be there just as he is here today

So I will cling to his love which I know was here yesterday.
