About the Size of God

Look out your window on a clear autumn night.

Now scan the blackness for those specs of light.

Admire them, consider how big they are.

Allow yourself the see each tiny star.

Consider it as a sun much like our own.

Try to understand that it is not alone.

It has friend which pepper the clear autumn sky

It is amazing that they can be seen by human eye.

However, we see them as tiny lights.

We cannot see their true brilliance and powerful might.

Miles and miles of space stand between us and them.

Now hold your breath and let your mind swim

Through the void of space and consider this.

God is in all and created all with nothing amiss.

He created our sun; he created the stars and the moon

And he created Heaven, “Lord I am coming soon!”

How big do you think this creator could be?

He is all and in all that you and I can see.

He is even bigger than that, he is in the mystery of universe.

Yet, he has called someone as small as me through every verse

Of God’s holy word and through the voice of Jesus, his only Son.

He will bring us home when our earthly chores are done.
