Yesterday is Gone!

This morning the alarm went off playing “When the Saint’s Come Marching in.

That is a beautiful way to start the day as I awaken once again.

It takes just moments for me to become aware that this is a brand new day.

It is only once now and then that I consider life this way.

Yesterday is over, you see.  It has been replaced by today.

Only now and then do I ask myself, did I help someone in any way?

Yes, yesterday is now a memory for it has run through its allotted hours.

What did I do to make yesterday a day to proclaim God’s powers?

Did I help the poor, did I comfort the sick, or visit someone in jail?

Did I say something to help my brother in any way or did I simply fail.

God knows my every deed and he knows my every fault.

He knows when I have strayed away and when I have followed what he taught.

When I find myself pondering these things, I am reminded of this one thing.

I cannot relive all my yesterdays or go back and change anything.

However, today is now and I can make the most of this gift that God has granted me.

So if I dwell at all on yesterday, it is only to help me see.

I can see missed opportunities and this makes me more aware.

It makes me see the things I might have done and thus help me to prepare

To give back to the master in some special way the things that he will ask.

It may be a simple smile to stranger or it may be a Heavenly task.

Whatever he wants of me today, I pray I will succeed.

When today becomes yesterday I pray I will have done some good deed.

Love one another, even as your Heavenly Father has loved you.
