I spend a lot of time enjoying my grandchildren these days. I love my kids but their lives are their own now so I just support them in whatever way I can and pray for them constantly. I watch my wife as she feeds the grandchildren much in the same way she fed our kids. This is what prompted me to write the following poem. I am moved by the fact that I sometimes wonder how the years have fled so quickly leaving only memories.
Fly, Fly Away
Birds fly high in the sky.
Each day of life takes flight as it skips by.
Then weeks take flight and are soon part of my past.
Then come the months winging past way too fast.
Finally as I look back I realize that years have gone for they could not last.
Now I find myself looking back on a life lived well.
I have many memories, lots of stories to tell.
Once I was a child at play yearning to become grown-up and on my own.
Then I graduated high school and my life entered a new zone.
I should have been happy but I felt all alone
Until the day I met her, and she became my source of joy.
Two years later we had a baby boy.
Two girls followed and before I knew it I was a grandpa.
To say the least, my life has not been dull.
My life has been like the bird in flight.
I have gain much over the years including better insight.
Now as I live my days, months and years.
I look back at the times of joy and the periods of tears.
I also treasure each day ahead for I know.
Those days will come and how quickly they will go.
Live every day as a day unto the Lord, thy God above
And forget not the wonderful treasure that is founded in love.
Hi Lew, Great write and oh, so true. Lately, I've been taking trips down memory lane, too. Thinking about my dad(now 98)and my Mom (83) and the great times I had growing up with with my 6 brothers and sisters. Christmases were a blast...I'll have to write something about that soon. Yes, where has time gone? I see the gray hairs popping up everywhere...even spotted a couple on my eyebrow and eyelashes. Now, that's not good at all...had to pluck them out and told them not to visit again. All the same, I, like you, live each day with joy and thankfulness unto God. With Jesus in our lives, each day is a blessing. Thank you for sharing this write.
God Bless

(I've been bogged down these past few days, so didn't get a chance to visit the Den. Now that I'm back, I want to get caught up with reviews. Lots of nice writes! Once I'm through, I'll be posting again.)

So true Lew...Blink and then its over....but live each day as unto the lord...
So true...time does seem to pass very quickly before our eyes. I remember when I was a child, it seems the days would last forever, and the weeks drug by slowly, I could hardly wait to grow up....now ironically the days and weeks pass so quickly one can hardly keep up and keep track of where the time actually went. Christmas is quickly approaching and I'm not sure where the year went? I often think that the enemy wraps one's mind up with daily frustrations, worries, and cares of the world that we don't take the time to enjoy as we did when we were children. What do you think? Great write.
Blessings,

This book consists of a 150 pages of Christian poetry about the end of time and the Second coming of Jesus Christ not as a servant but as a King, the King of kings. To bring righteousness and peace to the earth and restore the government of God! Peac
