I have tried to tell people what I believe is a secret to faith which drives the soul. It is hard to put it into words and I am sure it is hard to understand. When I was a child my parents took us to a church which taught that if you ask anything and have faith, God will give it to you. I have found this is not so. God knows what I do not know. That being, what I need and what will save my eternal soul. Think about it friend. He knows my every thought even before I do and he knows my every need even better than I do. Who am I to make demands of the very one who gives me ever breath? I simply turn on my spiritual radio, tune it to station JESUS and listen. Then I try to put it into works. Not to save myself for I cannot do this. The wonderful news is he has done it for me.
That is why I work for the Lord. His love nourishes my soul and causes me to love in return.
He is God, my creator. He carries my heavy load.
He walks beside me hand in hand as I travel down life’s long and lonely road.
He has not touched my body to heal or ease whatever ails
But he is always there to touch my soul with healing that never fails.
I ask no fantastic miracles of my Lord in Jesus’ name.
I know that if he wills it, he could heal the sick and lame.
I do not ask much of him for I realize he knows my needs.
I simply come to him in prayer and draw strength to perform good deeds.
I realize that words are useless when I pray to God above.
I simply sit quietly and listen as he speaks with eternal love.
He gives me all I need to live my life in faith in his holy name.
For with this faith I can endure all things, that’s why I can proclaim,
He is my lord and Savior; it is his strength that drives my soul.
I am his child and I love to serve for indeed that is my role.
If you find there comes a day that life seems hard for you to endure.
Take your troubles to the Lord for his love is strong and sure.
Try praying silently and without words, simply seeking out his voice.
Then when he gives you his knowledge to boost your faith simply make the eternal choice.
It's good to be back and reading your rich, inspirational work, Lew. It's always great to read another's work, especially when you feel the same.
You know Lew, I hadn't realized how exhausted my brain cells were until I was on the cruise ship. I thought often about my friends at the Den, but the need to just relax was overpowering. I'm now beginning to feel the urge to get back to the computer and to reading all the great material penned by my beloved friends. Thank you for this write.
Nicely put my friend...there are times that I too enjoy meditating quietly so that I may hear the Lord whisper within my heart. There are other times I enjoy just talking to the Lord, a heart to heart and one on one...I my friend have witnessed a miraculous healing from the Lord, He healed my daughter of a serious bone disease...I prayed in His will and I did recieve...I believe that is the key to faith is understanding and accepting God's will in our lives. Great write, for he does know the very intentions of our heart and our needs before we even ask...silence is beautiful...amazing what one can hear if they just listen...
