What I sometimes find myself contemplating is my motives for serving God. Is it simply so I will go to Heaven when I die? I really believe that if this is the reason I tarnish my soul with self serving ideas. I truly believe that we all start that way but as years go by our love for our creator is based on the fact that loved us first. I would like to think when I serve God I do so because he first loved me. My eternal salvation is a gift from God. I couldn’t earn it. I shouldn’t try. I simply am caught up in his wonderful love and that breeds more love on my part.
From where cometh my salvation?
How will I know that it is come?
It is not announced like a train pulling into the station.
I have no eyes that see from whence it comes.
If I cannot see where it comes from or when it has arrived
I must conclude that it comes like a thief in the night.
Is it possible that it through life’s turmoil has survived?
Only driven by God’s wondrous might?
It may be that my Salvation is not yet complete.
It may be that each day I gain a small part.
Maybe each small part is a daily treat
Which bolsters my soul and fulfills my heart.
From where cometh my salvation?
How can I know that it ever will come?
I pray to my Lord and my heart glories in elation.
I praise God from hence my ability to love has come.
What is salvation if it is not total love?
Is it simply a means to immortality?
I believe it more than a free ticket to Heaven above.
I believe brings immortality with much greater quality
From where cometh my salvation?
This is a question I should not need to ask.
For it comes from God through his Son and my Lord.
It comes from God’s powerful and everlasting word.

Lew, the photograph is beautiful and the poem is written with feelings from within you. You kept this reader interested until the very end. I did like this thought process poem.
We cannot buy our way to salvation or is it achieved by works. It's a pure unselfish gift from Jehovah God. All we have to do is accept His precious son and what He did for us.

Great write, I have been asked in my time where my salvation come...I quickly reply when I repented from my heart, and then gave my whole heart to God. It is a growing way...day by day...enjoyed this much.

I tend to disagree with this, even though yes, we all like to go to heaven; but this is hardly the motive for serving God. Many people love to follow God's path to serve God is because they wanted to serve, and to spread God's words to be kind to others and save others comes first in their minds, and going to heaven comes natural and they don't have to think about it because they know they will go to heaven and is confident about it and you never have to think about something that you are confident of.
