March… Lion & Lamb

As I write this it is March first. It seems at this point that March is coming in like a lamb. You know the old saying I’m sure. March in this part of the country has always been wild. This poem is dedicated to the third month of the year.

Poem Artwork

March is famous for roaring winds, whipping to and fro.

The temperature is uneasy one day higher the next day low.

On days when the wind flexes her vast powerful muscles

You can hear the wind roaring against the windows and see it causing the trees to rustle.

The clouds sometimes hurry across the as if trying to escape her power.

You may see days when the clouds are like a finger painting as they scatter and cower.

One thing you can always depend upon is that March is the preparation for spring.

It is followed by April showers and then may flowers with birds that sing.

March is the month of transition from winter to spring and then summer days.

March comes quickly, lives furiously but never stays.

This gives me pause to consider the days, months and years that have passed before.

It also makes me think of times to come and what they have in store.

Our past is over… many March’s have come and gone and are now history.

The future March’s give no hint, what will come is a mystery.

Much of the future depends upon what happened yesterday

But be not unaware that is also depends upon what we do today.

Let us take care of the Earth God so kindly gave to us to care for.

Do not waste her resources and help her to endure.

My dear Lew...So far up here in Toronto, March charged in like a roaring lion! Snow, freezing rain etc., yesterday. All night school classes were canceled, so too my piano class at 3:30 in the afternoon. A freight train derail in the afternoon also. Today, the weather has improved a little...but drivers have to be careful. Perhaps for us, March will go out like a lamb. That will be good, considering Easter is in early April. Thank you in advance for the cheerful expectation of spring. :)

Love and peace
Lena
