Come and Gone?

In my blog yesterday I wrote about all these holidays. Father’s day is one. We celebrate it once a year. We celebrate the birth of Christ once a year. We celebrate July 4th. once a year. Maybe we are looking at this all wrong. We should celebrate every day of the year as a day of life. It is a gift from God. Let us be joyful and rejoice in it.

Poem Artwork

It seems another Fathers Day has come and gone.

I got cards and gifts from everyone.

Now it is the day after Fathers day.

A date in history that would not stay.

I will share some good news with you, my friend.

Father’s Day shall never end.

It has its beginning when your first child is born.

And though there are many years of life to praise and some to scorn.

Fathers Day is not a date on the calendar or holiday.

When the sun comes up it begins a new day.

Just like the day before this begins another chapter in history.

How does it survive?  It really is no mystery.

With the first breath of your first child it begins

And it never will ever fade; it never ends.

I have three children of which I am the father.

Now there five grandchildren and that makes me grandfather.

Just like life, this is not a single day in history.

It is a lifetime event and that is my story.

Yesterday is history now but Fathers Day is never over.

It is a growing thing like trees, grass and clover.
