Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it. For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith. Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, “So I declare on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest’” And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.” And again in the passage above he says, “They shall never enter my rest. (Heb. 4:1-5)

If we do great works but without faith, our works are doomed to fail. If we have faith but without works, we are as a ship on the sea with no sail. If we serve our Lord with love and passion based upon his promised forgiveness. Our works will blossom and multiply fed by Gods majesty and holiness. True faith is as a seed which was planted in the ground and once that is done It is called to fight its way back to kiss the air, being called there by the sun. If we believe in God we show that faith by living our lives as a testimony. We will work for him quietly but diligently without need for ceremony. Our faith gives our lives a meaning and we will serve the master with great zest. On the final day when he calls us away we will enter his kingdom for eternal rest.

Lew, faith is like a seed as you have indicated and sowers of seeds will reap rewards in Heaven. Without faith, there is no hope, no will, no desire, faith rules the soul and without it we are helpless. I truly liked this wonderfully written inspirational writing...it blessed me this evening as I read it. Thanks for sharing!
