Together we Are Strong

I found myself studying a leaf. It occurred to me that this small part of the tree is very delicate. Indeed, it will be the first to fall in the autumn which is coming upon us. As the leaf falls, though it will have served a wonderful purpose. Such a small part of the tree is vital to the trees life. Our lives intertwine like that:

Poem Artwork

Together we stand strong able to meet each day.

It is true , though that each left to himself will find it easy to sway.

Let us look at the tree which stands strong in the face of wind and rain.

Because each part of the tree does its part that tree can stand under strain.

The leaf on the tree depends upon the twig which connects it to the branch of the tree.

The twig is dependant upon the branch and branch is supported by the trunk; it is that way with you and with me.

The trunk needs the roots and the roots need the soil for nutrients to sustain the trees growth through good times and bad.

With all of these working with each other this is the secret to sustaining life and without this teamwork the outcome would be eternally sad.

Keep in mind that the leaf depends upon the twig and each part of the growing tree.

But each of these depends upon the leaf for without the air they could not be.

If we stand and work for each other it is good for each has something to give.

This is how life on Earth is sustained and part of our reason to live.

How true it is that if we all vow to work together, life and the world will go forth much better than ever before.

Beautiful and inspiring poem, Lew. You are a master of the inspirational genre.

I find your metaphor "right on!"
By ourselves we cannot stand the onslaught of life, together we can accomplish anything.
It is a wonderful statement about family and how to sustain that entity.
Thank you for an incredible poem and insight.

Kathy
