My Mom and Dad taught me that whatever does not kill you can only make you stronger. That is what this poem is all about.

Poem Artwork

Life is made up of times of great joy and also times of trial.

The joy is wonderful and we live that and of that there is no denial.

Those times of trial are another thing; you live through them for they are like the dark.

If you do not get through this period you won’t see the next sunrise which is a mark.

A mark of what you say?  I will try to tell but you really should know.

That sunrise marks the beginning of a new day and you still have things to see and places to go.

So when hard times come endure them and keep a watchful eye to the eastern sky.

From there comes tomorrows sunrise; a new day beginning for you and I.

Your parents taught you well and their words are true. Every adversity is a door to opportunity. Keep looking to the east and you'll always be on course.
