I wrote this originally in 1997 and posted it here. I noticed this morning that someone has just read it. I thought if might be nice to read again. I posted the following remarks as in intoduction when I first posted the poem here:
"Early this week we shut down the furnace and opened the windows at night. The temperature was in the 70’s and 80’s. Today the furnace is running, the windows and doors are closed and it is snowing again. Even so, it is beautiful to watch the snowfall.
Everything about life is beautiful if we only have eyes to see."
I hope you enjoy it.
Consider the sky as it changes colors and shades to let us know
When we can expect the rain, sleet, hail or snow.
Consider the clouds which also reflect the changing weather.
They can be fluffy white or gray or sometimes both together.
Consider the snowflake which drifts to the ground.
One makes no matter but watch as thousands come down.
As they all flow downward together deflecting the light
They turn the gray sky to a sky of white.
Consider the flowers dressed in red, yellow, gold and blue.
I have watched them dance in the field as the spring breeze blew.
Consider the tree as it dresses itself for the coming of spring.
It is fully dressed for summer, wearing many shades of green.
Consider that same tree as she dresses up for autumn’s arrival
And then prepares herself for winter… she is an icon of survival.
Consider all the creation, man is a part all of which by God is blessed.
Consider the God given ability to see past the mountains in the west.
See life in all its glory and know we are but a part of something far greater.
From the tiniest seed to the volcano’s great crater.
Consider the beauty of the butterfly feeding on a flower so bright.
She takes only its nectar and spreads seeds of delight.
Consider how each creature offers something to the balance of life.
It seems we are all married to one another; yes we are as husband and wife.
I like the phrase: "Consider how each creature offers something to the balance of life" and I pray with all my heart that the officials of
"Wildlife Management" get to read this - and cease the slaughter of bears, wolves, seals, whales, and dolphins. Nature can balance herself without their help.

Oh Lew: This is so beatuful, like the red rose of love above. To see nature in all it's beauty. to love your fellowman, and to have respect for life itself, and yes,to love and respect yiour own body is to see God in all His Glory. Bless you on your journey to that place in the sky which is more beautiful than all of this. 'lil flower
