The Burden of the Cross

Jesus Christ hung on the cross to bear the guilt of sins of ours.

With this act of love he trumped Satan of his horrid powers.

When we look upon the cross we surely see our offenses and transgressions

but not the remorse but instead the joy of liberation.

Our sins put him on that cross on that gray day

It was not revenge for which he did pray.

“Father, forgive them,” from the cross he cried.

“They know not what they do,” he sighed.

It was sweet love of the true st form

That kept him hanging on the cross during a horrible storm.

Because God gave us the life of his only son

Our forgiveness was bought and our salvation was begun.
