I am thankful to God for each day that I’ve lived
I pray that for each blessing received I’ve had something to give
A kind word to someone facing a problematic task
Would a simple smile of friendship be too much to ask?
I pray I have shown friendship and compassion
To a friend or a stranger facing a source of apprehension
When we each awaken every morning we may feel some concern
What will the day bring and what will we learn?
Our tomorrows are not promised so we live for today
As we get older we thank God for still another day
However, as we do let us not forget to pray
That for each day he has given we have something kind to say
I pray that he will give me faith to live with devotion
And let love for my fellow man be my defining emotion
