The alarm went off today at sun-up

To herald the beginning of the day

I slowly rolled over to make myself get up

Although it was in bed I wished to stay

There was no need for fanfare

After all, it’s just another day

I dressed and tottered down the stair

Started breakfast preparations

Bacon and eggs with coffee and O.J.

I thought “There’s no need for celebration”

After breakfast I sat sipping my hot potion

Looking out the window at the leaves basking in the morning sun

A gentle breeze caressed the trees causing just the slightest motion

It was a peaceful sight to see and I found myself envisioning

The changes Septembers’ coolness would soon have to bring

The leaves will dress in vivid colors, changing from their summer green

To orange and yellow, brown and red

The most beautiful panorama ever seen

Then I heard my true love awaken and slowly crawl out of bed

As she walked into the kitchen she had a special greeting to say

“Good morning Dear,” she whispered and I wish for you a happy birthday
