He was so close yet so far away
He could have achieved great success that day
But alas, his patience had run its course
And he walked away, overcome with disappointment and remorse
Little did he know his next attempt would have meant his success
But, sadly he found himself overcome by stress
He threw up his hands in great exasperation
Not realizing that his next attempt would have achieved his dreams realization
How many times might this have happened to you and to me
A dream unfulfilled because we simply failed to see
That the next attempt would have been the triumph we desired
We simply lacked the perseverance that was required
