“Dear Lord I ask you this and I beg you to explain
Are all my attempts to serve you, Lord simply efforts made in vain?”
That was the prayer I invoked after a very trying day
For I found my faith was waning due to the worries that I faced that day
I awaited an answer from my Lord but his silence was truly grueling
And so I wallowed in my torment for I knew not why he was punishing
Then the silence was broken and he explained to me the reason for my situation
He said, “Your anxieties are not a lack of faith but indeed they are afflictions”
“You must keep in mind, my Son that I will never try you for more than you can endure
Just as iron is put into the fire and in that way is made strong and pure
So you too will be cleansed and learn from the trials of daily ordeals
So take heart when troubles come your way and pray to me for I will always hear your appeals
