He was born and lay in a bed of straw
And wise men came to honor him
For they knew he came to save us all
They praised him and foretold how he would rescue them
For they had followed the star that showed them the way
They proclaimed, “Here lies Gods only son
Sent to earth and to us as a sign this day”
He was the word proclaimed, our salvation won
But alas, man would come to mock him and persecuted him
They would hang him on a cross and he would wear a crown of thorns
They jeered him and laughed at him and heckled him
They ridiculed him and cursed him with words of scorn
Then he would rise from the dead and thus Gods word was fulfilled
And our salvation was bought by the blood of Christ
