In Gethsemane the holiest of all petitioners prayed three times that a certain cup might pass from Him. It did not. After that the idea that prayer is recommended to us as a sort of infallible gimmick may be dismissed. Author: C.S. Lewis

*I prayed that God would heal my affliction* *His answer was that I should endure my physical condition* *For the son of God suffered pain and misery* *To purchase forgiveness for you and me* *Therefore I may ask once to let this cup pass me by* *If his answer is ‘no’ I will accept it with a sigh* *My Lord knows what it is that I have need of* *So I will share his suffering for I know his love* *Jesus hung upon a cross to carry away my burden of sin* *Now he stands at Heavens’ gate and beckons me, “Come in”* *This is why I will endure life’s woes and discomforts* *So my prayers are simply asking for Gods son’s support* *He knows my every care and affliction* *So I will accept them and pray for my salvation* *For his love is stronger than any feelings of despair* *And I will call on him for courage for I know he is always there*

Lew,

God IS always there during difficult times and good times. Often when I pray His answer is also 'no' but I realize theres a reason for that no. One glorious day we will understand. Love and blessings to you.
