Learning to read

Such a Priceless gift

“A” says “Aah and “E” says “EH”

“B” says “Bu” and “S” sounds like the hiss of a snake

“Du” – “au” – “gu” says dog

And “ku” – “aa” – “tu” is cat

In every word, vowels and consonants

The magic truly begins

As the doors of living begin to open

Confidence in gained in every newly learned sound

Independence and freedom as it all connects

For what someone writes, can then be read

Then others can read what I write down

Adventure and knowledge at the turn of a page

Just a few of the miracles

Of learning to read

Indeed, Karen! Reading is such a precious gift and it is sad to know that many in this world do not have access to it. Thank you. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Excellent presentation, the great to teach our children to read, write, and dream. Our future lies with their smiles reaching out to America's destiny that we all had something to offer.

It is a gift that we are all very thankful for and to share our words with others is the greatest gift of all.

It truly is THE most memorable and exciting time of a young life in which, not only is the big, wide world all OUT there to be experienced, lived and felt... it is there to be learned about to. Literacy is the single most mind-expanding gift we can be taught and given and without it our communication and understanding is severely curtailed. Once we begin to grapple with shapes on a page, we can begin to look for signs and meanings elsewhere in the world around us. "Reading" comes in many shapes and forms. Love the photograph and the concentrated intensity coupled with freedom and joy it encompasses. TY Kate xx

Reading as a sickly child often confined to bed was my only means of escape and to this day if I need down time a book and a place away from outside influences are still my stress medicine. In this day and age of TV and video games etc it is still magic when a child learns and then learns to love reading.

It does seem like a miracle, doesn't it? We all take it so much for granted later on, but to those little ones at 4, 5 years of age...
