Favorite Things

In an e-mail just this morning,

Silly, shallow questions all in a row,

All an attempt at knowing another.

But inquiries seemed so trivial,

The same “yes”, “no”; “black”, “white” answers,

Reveal minor differences from one to another

Things that divulge so very little.

“Your favorite color?”

“Yellow”, you say.

But I want to know more of you,

“Why is it yellow?”

“Is it because of your tow-headed youngest son?”

“The warmth of the sun?”

Maybe it is because of the wheat your daddy grew,

Or perhaps the remembering of the dress you wore,

On your very first date at the age of sixteen.

These are the essential answers,

To your favorite color answer.

These things tell of the depth of you.

The you I want to know more of,

The you that life has created.

There will never be the kind of depth and understanding on the internet that our souls crave. And finding this precious gift in person is even harder.

The importance about having a 'fave' is that we are blessed to be able to choose!
Wise words, Karen!
I miss you,

Its the little things we don't know about those closest to us. I never knew my husbands favorite colour or number until our three year old asked him, sometimes it's the little things that count. Thank you for sharing Karen.

So right you are, I have done those surveys sent by friends as well and I never really thought they were as much good as just having a one on one with the person who wants to know.

You express truth in these verses, Karen. My favorite color is blue closely followed by black. There are reasons for this. A thought-inciting write. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Karen,

This is beautifully penned - my favorite color, hmmmmmmmmm - purple. A rich, royal, vibrant color - and a great movie, besides - no, I've always loved purple. :) Also orange - the warmth of sun, enclosed - thought provoking excellence and LOVE that pic!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Karen, My favorite color has been purple since I can remember. I believe that in another lifetime I was a Queen and wore purple..The other reason I love the color purple, is that it is the light I see when I meditate and that represents my intuition and foresight.
I also remember the first pair of bikini underwear I was able to buy was the color purple...lol
Much love, light, and peace my friend,

Yes, it is hard to get to know someone when they give clipped answers or responses to discourse between two persons. Its the safest response because it doesn't bare any feelings or emotions. You've definitely got your point across in your interesting poem.

Quite thought provoking, Karen, and we all truly have our favorite things. And you've now got me pondering why I like the color green so much.
