This poem was featured on Gumballpoetry.com and it also won first prize at the Michigan State University Oakland Poetry Contest. Palisades is not too far from where I live.
At Palisades Nuclear Power Plant
Waves lap the sand the sand the sand
and while we keep silence, the silence of Annabelle Lee
a plutonium fuel rod ticks away
stored on the dunes where we used to play.
We played elephants on a spider web
Sword of Damocles
Go Fish.
First of all, let me say the previous review was much too harsh and a glaring example of how brave people are when they're at a keyboard vs. face-to-face. Second, this poem made me get out my Poe anthology when I saw the Annabelle Lee alliteration. I like the modern day take on the poem, meaning the nuclear power plant. Good work and congratulations on your award.
