An eagle leaves evidence in the snow.

Eagle Markings
 
The snow this January day
White, deep, cold
Shows where an eagle stooped
To grab its hapless prey.
 
All left on my walkway
An imprint of an eagle claw
And fanlike markings
On the new fallen snow.
