Sitting in the dark with tears
As if by magic light appears

Sunrise and with it my joy
In all that God did employ

While on my porch I see
The birds assemble faithfully

I feel their unity so strong
As they sing their morning song

Soon traffic begins to hum
People shrugging off doldrums

Trees swaying with the breeze
Scent of blossoms makes you sneeze

Thoughts of it disappearing one day
Gives me impetus to pray

Yet all the terror seems so surreal
In this environment of peace I feel

Those who use weapons so readily
Must come from a planet unknown to me

I cannot fathom where comes the will
To make people want to destroy and kill

I know all about theories of evil and good
But the choice we make is also understood

I ponder why  some choose the way of war
It isn't just because of their needs for more

The fact that many terrorists come from poverty
Is not the reason they have chosen weaponry

Wars are started by leaders greedy for power
Who brainwash their illiterate youth to devour

Instead of using their oil money to educate
They teach all of their youth to eradicate

They have means to enrich all in their nation
Instead they seek world power and domination

Then other nations are forced to defend
Today's weapons are a  horrendous blend

This is why in the dark visions haunt me
That we destroy God's creation so thoughtlessly

Those engaged in war must seek to make amends
Not just fight doggedly uncaring how it ends
