October surprises herald changes
The unexpected can be propitious
The fruits offered look delicious
No time to waste on either or
I must make haste to open doors
That lead to better metaphors
The sun is bright and warm this morn
From the window next to me I feel it
And my room does its light adorn
Though from open window a slight chill
As I inhale the refreshing clear air, while
enjoying bird chatter near my window sill
I contemplate the things that I shall miss
At the same time knowing the joys to come
Moving can be both hell and bliss
As I ponder the packing that lies ahead
And all the extra work that must be done
Methinks instead I'll just go back to bed
