Poem Artwork

Several have asked if my poem Nightmarish Reality was real, and sadly I admit it was. I rarely write of my past horrors, having come to terms with all things. I was raised in a Catholic family that did not believe in divorce, and I endured my marriage until my boys were in High School, and we could no longer live with the tyrant. Many friends and family have told me to write a book because they know of the mental abuse I suffered which was far worse than the physical, which almost crippled me.I never felt led to share it, but rather to forget and move on.

Thank you my friends for your warm comments  which truly gave me comfort. It's been many years since I had such a nightmare, and was very surprised at my reaction Sometimes we think we're enlightened beyond being hurt by  old demons we have overcome, but as long as we are in our human bodies we are open to attacks. That is what faith is all about, knowing we can bring our pain not only to Creator, but to friends who care and will be there able to share!  Your encouragement is part
of what helps to heal the wounds.Bless you all!

~~*~~

We sing Your praises
loud and clear
For all of humanity
to hear
Beauty is lacking in
humankind
Hidden so deep we can
no longer find

You alone are merciful
and just
In You alone do we place
our trust
You alone are crowned
in righteousness
To you alone do
we confess

You are the breath of fresh air
we must breathe
Exhale lies,and hypocrisy
in which we seethe
We lift your  banner of truth up high
for all to see
The shining star of the heavens
Creator, our majesty

We need your peace to come
upon our land
Chaos and confusion reign
without your hand
Do not close your portal
of love and grace
Show us the way to honor You
with one grateful face

"The Need For Grace" tells us that when we live with God within our heart, our future is to live in the heart of God.

Surviving unspeakable childhood abuse, I have learned that we are never alone, that God is everywhere and that love is the ultimate revenge.

And now, dear Eileen, God lets us share in the grace of your wonderful talent.

Great is the need
Will we get on our knees and plead?
For us
Our family
Our country
Yes, this whole galaxy.
With your personal intro
Now I know.

A great inspirational poem and glory to be given to God in His Divine Mercy. However, although I would say that the majority of men are cruel, there are some who are not. Yet the greatest honnor must go to Our Lord who is perfection and Love. Victor

I know exactly what you mean. I don't write about my life often but am finding I can now because it can not be changed nor accepted. But it can create something useful from the experience. Good writing! As always your writing lifts me above where I hover sometimes. You're a great writer and source of comfort Eileen!

Hello dear Lady M,
I had to backtrack a little here based on your intro - I know! I know! ;) ...both works are strikingly powerful. As you describe pertinently, nightmares are only real for as long as we allow them to be but sometimes they last a little longer than we would like. I agree, physical scars seem to heal far more quickly than the mental brutality, it is an abhorrence and those who inflict such attrocities are deficient...but to The Need For Grace, your pen superbly lifts the spirit, and encompasses so much. However we align ourselves spirtually, without doubt that inner peace can only be found by delving deep, searching and connecting to something so much bigger than us. Powerful stanzas superbly expressed - I have missed you! xox Imp ;)

Praises of faith and inner strength so beautifully done. Stay strong and keep going forward. You are much stronger than I. It was when I was read my last rights in the hospital that I emotionally woke up. I healed, took my children (5, 4, 1/1/2) and moved far away......God has watched over and protected......

Be safe,
Karen

I'm happy your living without the mental abuse now.
The pain always comes back and haunts us at times.
My Dad has come back to me in dreams at times which
is no fun for me.
God does give us peace, but I usually think of God
as the universe and being all powerful
Love ya Eileen. Your a dear sweet woman that I'm
proud to know.
