Farley was a handsome boy just nine years old when he died. Though I have had others dogs since – he is still very much missed
Farley
He was rather large, Alaskan bred,
With stand up ears and a bit overfed.
His massive frame would crowd the door
So passersby could shake his paw!
Now sheltered beneath a snowy pine
His trackless tracks no more define.
As soft and silent descends the snow
Farley’s trusting life let go!
One morning when everything was alive with sounds spring, a gentle breeze lifted a piece of black and grey fluff across the lawn. I stooped and picked it up memories of Farley came flooding back,and I felt he was not far away.

Anyone who has loved and owned a pet that has died would be able to relate to this poem. Sadly I have. This poem evokes stong emotions for me. This was well written.
"Farley" is, indeed, gorgeous, dear Beryl. And I say "is", because, in our memory, in our heart, they remain - they "are" and will ever be. He is definitely not far away, he's right there, with you.
