HeArt Of The Merry Christmas Spirit

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

This is a poem that must be read all the way, because it is a roller coaster of emotions.

As a poet, we have to use the gamut of emotions and pitch them up, down, slide-ways, and twist words all around.

Added vertical version, below horizontal one.

Poem Artwork

HeArt Of The Merry Christmas Spirit

Cold bitter brittle be reins razor bit-ten blades
Sharp bee needle pricks, tuning dye pitch forks
Decisions slide sideways, mid topsy-turvy incisions
Upside down, right-side twirls, highlight low beams.

Mince, thy paper shredded pieces, in vertical strips
Bacon peeled away, layer by layer, sizzles pan fried
Scotch marked permanent ink, tattooed time stamped
Grave marker stencil, be abrasive rhyme, Wake passed over.

Grind teeth blunt, feeling swallows, be chokehold torn
War-frame expendable pawn, to be frozen stiff placemat
Stepped on wrought plied lines, try to break bedrock ground
Nails bleed - rake overwhelmed polished in rust haze worn-out.

Crazed daze, fetal position, preys alone, skeletal key hollow
Be thy name’s echo that fades, fades, fades hope-less being lost
Tossing thy invisible fishing line lure, ### for any kind of sparse love
That Dew, that make hugs warm up - moist eyes in those IN-DEED(S) -
Special NEED for feeling the  -
HeArt Of The Merry Christmas Spirit

(This Christmas - smile at those in need, for they really need it. Most of all, do not frown at them, nor look down at them being in need of Merry Christmas. Is it naught that IN-DEED(S), we should feel the Christmas spirit, in what - it should be about. )

Very graphic,

a plethora of images flashed though my mind
