Had lunch with an old friend yesterday
Both of us had some things to say
The food was good the wine was better
I took off my hat she took off her sweater
That snobby waiter raised an eyebrow
but we didn’t care what he thought anyhow
We talked about life and started to whine
as we ordered up another bottle of wine
It was too warm all around us so after that
I took off my sweater she took off her hat
The waiter cleared his throat and suggested
Mature Ladies not be seen in public bare-breasted
My friend’s mammoth purse attacked his head
It whacked that waiter ‘til he was almost dead
The snooty maître d' couldn’t take anymore
so he had us escorted to and out the door
We stumbled down the street, our decision clear
Do lunch there on April Fool’s Day again next year
...blue plate...goes red light...in your humorous poem La Belle...giving one an appetite for the absurd...in one April visual.
