Sometimes life seems
downright absurdly insane
so I hide beneath a picture hat
to shelter my poor feeble brain
And then I look out at the world
from beneath my lacey parasol
at a long ago more genteel time
when we said “Why, I declare Ya'll”
and “Come have a mint julep
here on the cool veranda with me
We’ll keep the afternoon undercover
from all the nosey gossips that be”
They don’t need to know about
my once tight-laced bustier
How your fingers were its undoing
then we threw that thing away
Behind my fan you'll steal a kiss
and then a few dozen more
And we won’t let those gossips see
my wide hoop skirt on the floor
we won't let them talk about
my deprivation of silk pantalettes
by the time we get to the door
I think we should pull the curtains
around the big four poster bed
And Sir, don’t you tell a soul about
all the places I let you see red
Yes those were good ole days
and sweet Antebellum ways
Just to think of them brings a sigh
So I’ll peek out from under my parasol
and let the rest of the world go by!
PERFECTLY said and felt Belle!
Lovely Romance! I still have the 4-Poster Bed, with my handcuffs hanging, a little off from the shy days... but...
Love this time in the Old South/Country Loving Cowboys...etc...
Damn, those days could go on Foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! and I wouldn't mind,
Running to and fro from each other under weeping willow trees...

Oh my! around there most be a gray gentleman wearing a bow tie, white haired, mustache and goatee, pacing with steps only old military Officers & Gentlemen have. No wonder you are blushing under that lacey parasol when remembering the things he did.
When you write of the old South the passion of that place calls to me like an old friend even though I have never been farther south than Portland Maine. You make the woman come alive and the men blush and I love it..well done.
