the wind howls outside her door tonight
like a mournful coyote who lost her mate
and knows he’s not comin back, she knows
there’ll be no more pups to whelp and suckle
and that orange moon is the only one who’ll
listen to her complaints without complainin
she’s feels a kinship with that lonely coyote
the last lost cowboy she knocked boots with
ran off with the judge’s daughter, left her
with nothing but stained sheets and heart
and her will to live drainin down into nothin
she noticed that tall stranger on the street
again yesterday, he looked at her with that
same hunger in his eyes, the hunger she sees
every time she passes by, hurryin on her way
to nowhere, and she knows what he’s thinkin,
she’s seen that look in a man’s eyes too often
he don’t know how lonely she feels when the
wind howls outside her door and she’s alone
with nothin but a few old memories to hold her
he thinks she’ll laugh, say no but he don’t know
she wishes he’d just man up and get it over with
cause she don’t wanna sleep with memories tonight
The stranger the better. This one could be a movie, or, at least a good short story about the tall stranger that came and broke her heart (or was it your heart?). I don't know how you can write romantic poetry in so many different ways to keep it interesting, romantic, and true to form–like this little ditty that is so true to life.

The one night stands poster child. A lonely woman shamed with no recourse, just hollow stares from another night's affair. This is the good stuff Belle. Love and peace be with you my dear friend. Jon Michael
Sometimes it takes a woman to "man up" and take the lead. Nobody wants to sleep with memories tonight, and a bed with stranger is better than a bed alone, at night, with that coyote, the crickets, and the moon.

From one tall stranger I liked the piece very much. I like the music too.

Love it, Belle! Man up is for sure. In my younger days I missed out of . . . er . . . a lot not knowing how to man up and if it would be taken wrong. I found out, thank goodness, and tried my best to man up for all those times I didn't. Haha!! Gotta love it.
