Some of this is a bit autobiographical, and then it may be story of a real poet. Whatever it is, it's enchanting.

Tragic poetry, although the object of the poem seemed to not allow her misfortune to thwart her romantic heart. To live in an era where sonnets, i.e., poetry of any kind was looked upon with disfavor, was truly a dark time for a poet to have to live. Enjoyed this.

LaBelle, what a lovely well-written poem. I enjoyed reading it today,
It touched my heart and makes the reader realize that deep down inside there is great pain and misery even though one keeps moving on,
with the soul being tarnished and wrecked with no loving feeling at all. Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent.
