Cemetery Songs

mournful winds blow around crumbling stones
standing guard above the rotting bones
of fathers, mothers, daughters, sons
husbands and wives, and solitary ones
each laid to rest in the place they belong
while the doleful winds sing a cemetery song

her white, silk dress of another age
adds drama to the story and dark stage
it tightly clings to her skeletal frame
no living person remembers her name
moonlight caresses her silver hair
if you see her you'll be sorry to be there

amid the chilling dark at the end of the day
among silent graves you can hear her pray
with supplication and copious tears
pouring out to God her grief and fears
before the dawn breaks she will vanish away
back to her crypt to spend the light of day

thick darkness returns and winds blow strong
she'll return to sing her cemetery song
but none will hear, not even the divine
too late to pray, long out of time
this her hell on earth, where she belongs
forever to sing her cemetery songs

Even your rhyme is eerie. Probably why people don't want to go into a cemetery on a dark, cold windy night. The draft down one's back would certainly give an impression of what the trapped in a box underground in that place would be like. Like hell froze over. Certainly wouldn't want her to caress me!

"forever to sing her cemetery songs"

Whoa!!! Talk about your not-so-angry vampire. I say Whoa!!! She has a definate streak of pusillanimous within the dark witch that she is. THIS is profound in its corruption. A witch with perhaps a human soul. THIS is profoud in its cruption.
