Passed

no need to mourn the past
the past is passed
there's nothing you can do
to change it now

no need to relive the pain
wounds will heal
if you really want them to
but do you really?

It's time to kill your darlings
the few good memories
drawing you back into reveries
of years of pain

leave the past in a sealed tomb
of stony forgetfulness
don't go there to weep, to grieve
don't visit cemeteries

just let the dead bury the dead
determine you will live
far from graveyards of regret
unseeing eyes, non-hearing ears

perhaps the best is yet to be, filled
with love and laughter
saturated with peace and healing
the past is passed, let it go....

A WONDERFUL WORK, DONE SO WELL, TO WHICH I KNOW ALL CAN RELATE, DIFFERENTLY. I'VE NEVER CLAIMED TO BE PERFECT AND FOR SURE THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS WE ALL NEED TO PRAY ABOUT. ONE OF MY 'SHORTCOMINGS' IS...I CAN'T FORGET THE PAST. FOR MY PAST IS WHAT KEEPS ME STEADY TODAY. I LEARNED HARD LESSONS THAT I DON'T EVER WANT TO FORGET. MIND YOU, I DON'T HATE MY PAST OR ANYONE IN IT, IT IS VALUABLE TO ME BUT ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I SURVIVED IT. THUS, I WILL NOT ALLOW ANYONE FROM MY PASS TO HURT ME AGAIN. AND IT IS THAT SIMPLE. KEEP ME IN YOUR PRAYERS AND THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATION

This is so well said and properly placed where it belongs. I wish more people would realize the harmful effects of hanging on to bad memories. Thank you for sharing a valuable piece of your heart. Have a wonderful day Ma Bell Princesse du Coeur xo

Reads as though from experience. Uncharacteristic of you but you have alluded to what you have been through recently and are now wanting to put that aside and return to the upbeat person you always have been.

I agree with Jerry as this is so true. It takes time but it's worth it to forgive and then try to forget. Move-on for the BEST is yet to come! Amen!

Wallowing never really works but always seems like a good try. Nice piece.

Such wisdom in this poem! The past should stay in the past, but remembering thst the past experiences that we have had makes us who we are now!
Best to live in the moment be present in all that we do each and every day!
Peace love and light

I couldn't agree more, Susan. The past is past, never fret on it or possesivly look back. After saying that I have been known to look back when it comes to much of my poetry.

As long as we learn from the mistakes we made in the past.
