Hold Fast

hold fast to your faith
the skies are darkening swiftly
the storm in breaking around us
hold to God's unchanging hand
He will never let go of yours
through joys and sorrows
He has been with me
through my failures and sins
His grace has been sufficient
and his love has never failed

there are wars and rumors of wars
brutality on display everywhere
the blood of innocents call to Him
and he cannot long stay judgment
friends and family betray each other
and in Earth it is as it has always been
the love of money is the root of evil
don't sell your soul for creature comforts
guard your heart, speak with wisdom
judge only righteous judgment

hold fast to your faith
though everything around you
conspires to make you let go
life is fleeting, this world is dying
the temporal will eventually end
the eternal is everlasting, infinite
abide in faith, live in grace, walk in love
the wicked will not always prosper
God's judgment is just and sure
His long-suffering has long endured

refuse to embrace the hate
though it might feel justified
love is greater than hate
light is greater than darkness
hope is greater than despair
we have not seen the end of the matter
and we know who holds the keys
so hold fast to your faith, to the end
and do not be persuaded to abandon it
by those who have none
