If you want to be loved, love. /Seneca/

Poem Artwork

            Si vis amari, ama  /Seneca/*

Don’t ask me direction to “Happiness;”

Don’t follow me, or you might lose your way.

Shield your eyes against “Gold’s” shining brightness,

All “heavy loads” you ought to cast away.

I walk my own path, have nothing to give;

Possessions mean nothing; you gain, you lose.

If you ever hated, learn to forgive,

And if you are tempted, learn to refuse.

Be aware; this world is not fit for “saints,”

But that’s no reason to be a “sinner;”

Against all excesses apply restraints,

When you are “Big,” don’t try to get bigger.

What pulls you down you ought to rise above,

If you want to be loved, learn how to love.

To rhyme or rime not: "Brightness/Happiness/Sinner/Bigger".
It seems that the author would do better with a BLANK VERSE here... but I am certain that William Shakespeare wouldn't criticise "Si vis amari - (Sonnet)" for the way it was composed.

Sublime Poet Peter Peter J. Oszmann:

It is always a pleasant blessed privilege to read Your works.

"Si vis amari - (Sonnet)" delivers a poetic flower diffusing scent of wisdom.

In gratitude and admiration,

Wow!! Peter I agree with Karla, there is alot of wisdom in this poem. By the way if you have time come by and read one of my poems. I think we may have some things in common.

With Love,

I am working on that myself "learning how to love", as it seems for me to take a long lifetime to learn it completely...There should be a manual for love & while they make that one, maybe they can make one about women & how they work inside and out...or is that TOO MUCH to even ask of GOD...E, R, & R

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
