Tonight
all reason is retracted –
I feel smitten and distracted.
Refracted memories mix
with images of someone new,
who rouses my sleeping spirit.

            I wipe the drop of sweat from my brow 
                        as bolt of primal lightning
                        passes through me.

            Yet, I respond with grace just as earth 
                        receives sudden storm, letting go
                        of anxiety.

Drawn to
deep, dark eyes of mystery,
angle of your jaw, your hair
disheveled by sea breeze. You
are a picture, nothing more,
stranger in the everyday. 

            Yet, you are not just some star, distant, 
                        far away. We share a thing in common. 
                        Why not this moment, too? 

            Is it wrong to think of you this way?
                        I believe someone something like you 
                        could sweep me away.

So I
choose to let it go, let go
of inhibition, embrace soul,
surrender heart, mind, body
a little more, a little more,
until you hear, yes, yes, yes.
