wear red silk pajamas
and I am perhaps more
beautiful.

You knock three times before
I open a glass door
and we fall together
breathlessly,

as if we had waited
for this moment for all
our mornings, all our nights,
which, of course,

we have. The dream never
ends the same, but always
passion’s flame burns on and
on and on.

When I awaken from
sweet fantasy of us,
I knock three times on wood,
blow a kiss

to you wherever you
are and write a note to
buy red silk pajamas
tomorrow.
