My Mother, to me the most beautiful soul in the world, wrote this poem at the time my Godmother died in Germany. I wondered, if I should translate it into English but I decided that it should be enjoyed in it's native tounge. I hope it will find a few readers here on the den who know German.
I took this photo on Christmas 2006 during a visit in Germany. It shows my Mom and her heartfelt laugh, and my little niece, Denise Elizabeth, who is my Godchild.
Wohin werden wir gehen, wohin führt uns Dein weg. Um ewigen Frieden zu sehen, beugen wir uns gern um zu verstehn. So kommen wir aus der Dunkelheit ans Licht, in die Ewigkeit.
Dear Rebecca, Your mom is special and what she wrote is divine, let me now switch to the German language so your mom can understand my review;.

What a beautiful picture of your Mum and beautiful write she wrote - wish I knew more German! Can say Hello, Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, How are you, I am well, it is cold, it is hot, yes and no. LOL Whoops! I'm sure it is lovely, what your Mum wrote - thank you for sharing.
What I can decipher is comuing from darkness into light and with that winning smile in such a beautiful face, she doesn't even have to speak to get that point across. Thank you for sharing Becca, now I know who you get your beautiful looks and spirit from!

Know enough German to get into trouble; also know a little Korean, Swahili, Spanish (very little!), French, Dutch, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and Finnish in addition to English. :) Had a German neighbor in Ohio; she taught me some basic German words/phrases. Can also count to ten in German. :) Dat iss goodt, ja?? *grins*

I'm not sure of the entire poem, only bits and pieces of it...but I am sure that from the smile on your mother's face and the joy that can be read through her eyes it is as beautiful as I imagine it to be.
