Melt With Me

REVISED: Bigger script. I understand it was difficult to read before. "Melt With Me" is from my book "Dancing With My Imagination". A poet once criticized me for writing poems only in rhyme. She then challenged me to write something without rhyme. I palmed the gauntlet. "Melt With Me" was the result. I prefer to rhyme, but I love reading poetry of any style. I also enjoy reading different perspectives.

Poem Artwork

Melt with Me

My eyes smile at you…sweet seductor

You’ve lured me into your shimmering web

Where I remain waiting on you to devour me

Waiting for you to brush a hand across my cheek

…I melt

My tremble is caused by the heat of your breath

My neck fully warmed…other parts of me jealous

You work your magical mist lower, responding to the call

The parts of me that ache for you in this breathless moment

Another sensation replaces the one previously endured

…I melt

Your lips are a brushfire across my naked, freckled skin

A tingling conquers my body, leaving desire in its wake

Lusty thoughts leap out of my head and into the here and now

Your tongue making circles as I float, despite my body as an anchor

My mind ceases to work…my senses take over security at the Gate

…I melt

My hands are granted the pleasure ride they seek over your hard body

Smoothing over you slowly with suggestive intentions barely at bay

They leave trails of aroused skin behind them…anticipation before them

They discover the source of your heat…brushing its tip

Wrapping around its girth possessively…greedily

…you melt

I'm breathless! Very sensuous write, Sheila. And although I prefer lyrical verse, this one is beautiful. You certainly stood up to the challenge. Bravo!

What a delightful, sensuous poem, exquisite in its unfolding as only a woman can express, her inner most desire. Pure poetry at its best. I also like rhyming poetry but alas I have not the talent or the word smith ability to do it justice, but I try. Your are a delight in any venue.

The mind of a Poet is a creative engine of beauty, wonders and grace to diffuse love, harmony; to learn and to teach; to instruct Solons and to inspire kings and Sovereign queens; to defend art and the language; and to stimulate intuition and imagination.

"Melt With Me" is a multi color poetic bouquet of orchids diffusing scent of bliss.

In admiration,

Sheila, this is a beautiful poem.I want to say that poetry is like a big box of ice cream. Each poem has a different flavor, but at the same time it is delicious to the reader's eye and it makes them feel good in their hearts.Poetry is poetry no matter if a poem rhymes or not.All of us are bless to have this talent and skill. You are very talented and you are good at what you do.You don't have to change your style for anybody.I know that poet wasn't trying to hurt your feelings or anything, but I think its stupid that she would criticize you just because your poetry always rhyme.Take care of yourself and stay true to yourself

Well you didn't melt me but I think you melted my brain with this beautifully sensual delight that draws the reader, especially the male reader, right into your arms and the beauty that is yours. To capture that strong an image and deliver it in poetry is fantastic. Well done my dear friend Shiela...loved every line.

This is beautiful sensuous poetry...it is a shame some writers criticize others in their craft...but in all honesty...I have read the majority of rhyme poets that lack the skill of meter and flow and many other maladies making rhyme poems somewhat tedious to read, but I know that in time and with some support they are likely to improve through reading others...but in your case, you have mastered that style and this is an example of free form which lifts countless restrictions on the write itself...again you have managed to write a beautiful piece to be quite proud of...especially in the genre of romance, which many find difficulty in expressing. Here, anyone would melt after reading this fine piece of work. All would agree...you excel in whichever style you choose or prefer.

Sheila,

Very romantic, sensual an even a bit erotic. Your poem massages the senses. Your imagery gradually erupts in the end. I love the way you change from the receiver to the giver. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.

Goodness ... my blood pressure went up while reading this sensitive and sensual recount dear Sheila. Hard, soft, freckled, trembling, a circling tongue, greedily in the grips of passion ... I'm going home early today! (-:

As far as the criticism is concerned, there will always be those who find something they want to change in what you do. When that happens I always return the favor. I have seen in vision the red rose arguing with the yellow sunflower about changing her color to more compliment her own hues.

We, as writers, all have our own styles and unique voices - this is by design! You are a rare and talented woman that will be encouraged by those who have wisdom to do so!

As always, excellent.
As for the person who criticised you for the use of rhyme, I'm quite aghast!!!!

The engineered cadence of rhyming verse requires considerable mastery of the language in my own opinion. Quality work in that genre is rare and precious.

Poorly executed rhyming verse is very easily perceived as the work of an amateur, whereas the unstructured emotional verbal spew of a half educated aspirational poet who frenetically dumps the contents of his/her overwrought mind onto the unfortunate virginity of a blank page often seems impressive at first sight. It's often self indulgent, unstructured crap.

You do both beautifully!

A lovely shape on the "page" for this poem (I should say screen, but I prefer to think of it as a page... old-fashioned me! ;-)).

The font size looks tiny on my Mac's screen though...

Anyway, passionate and sensuous words for this piece of poetry.
