To all the lonely people, thinking that life has passed them by... (excerpt from a song)

Poem Artwork

She sits on a railway station bench
thinking of how life has passed her by.
She sits thinking of her life's sorrowful stench
and out of her depths comes a lonely sigh.

He sees her there each morning, every day,
sitting alone and seemingly so forlorn, sad and small.
He wonders what she is thinking and what to say
to her, if he ever got the courage to speak to her at all

Unbeknownst to the two of them sitting there,
a guardian angel is overlooking their plight.
He sees a perfect match brewing here...
and lights the embers of love's first flight.

Across the teeming railroad station,
their eyes meet and hold the glance.
Two lonely hearts, sick of an empty ration,
burst into a flaming need for romance.

He walks over, sits down beside her.
Their eyes meet once more.
He takes her hand and need begins to stir.
The feeling shows there is more in store.

They walk out of the railway station without a word,
cross the bridge and walk down the street.
Never once speaking, there is not need for tones to be heard.
The only sounds is of their walking feet.

They turn into a Hotel lobby and he requests a room.
He pays for a room with a bath and a veiw
and they take the elevator up to their floor with a zoom.
Inside the room, he turns and huskily tells her, "I love you.".

Two souls who met in the least romantic place.
Two people who had been watching each other
over time and felt a kinship to the other's face.
Now feel the magic of finding, at last, one another.

The night began a romance that lasts until today.
That night two lonely people became whole and one.
Through the years, they reflect upon the magic of that day
and bless the time that their glances held and romance won.
