Learning What it Takes!
Watching him play baseball takes me back to other day.
When his father played ball and watching his dad play.
He’s so intense on the field just like his dad use to be.
Loving the sport, soaring with extreme intensity.
Not missing a play, no balls getting through.
Making the outs, some double plays too.
Brings extreme joy to the cheering crowd,
Makes them cheer more and scream very loud.
Bringing him in to pitch, when bases are full,
With not one out made, seems awfully cruel.
But he bears down and whizzes the ball.
And one by one, the batters do fall.
How proud his parents must be watching him play,
Growing stronger in spirit and body each day.
For he’s learning more than the sport at hand.
He’s learning what it takes to be a great man.
